30k in 5 Days [Birth of a Novel Blog Chain]

Word Count: 69,804
GHOST SISTER Word Count: 19,613

I'm behind. By the end of today to be exactly on track, I should have been at 23,331 words. And I'm not. However, I have a plan.

There are eight days left of NaNoWriMo. 30,387 (how many words I have left to write) divided by eight is 3,798. That's how many words, at a minimum, that I have to write everyday for the rest of November. There is another part of the plan. And this, if I accomplish it, will definitely make my goal feasible.

For the next five days I have no school, no serious obligations (besides Thanksgiving and that's why God gave me two hands, one to eat with and the other to write with). It's like a (business) week long weekend. Just what I needed. 30,387 divided by five equals 6,077. Totally doable for a day I don't have school.

I'm going to do it. I'm going to try to write roughly 30k words in five days. Good Lord, I must be crazy.

  1. You're awesome Brooke!! Good luck with your 5-day writing frenzy. I'm behind too, after last night. Booo to that. But oh well, it happens!

  2. LOL, or just awesome! Good luck. At least there will be lots of food to keep your energy up.

  3. @Trisha I should have been on track by the end of today, but I'm not. I stayed at Lizzie's house until five and then went to the movies with my grandmother and sister. However, I did manage to squeeze in almost 3k despite that and plan to write to 25k (or perhaps 26k depending on how tired I am by then) before I go to bed.

@Charita lol Thanks for putting me in a good mood. ^^ And now everytime I think about food and energy the whole process of turning that food into energy plays out in my head. Biology I taught me at least one thing.

  4. Go for it! Just don't forget to come up for air, and turkey :-)

  5. Good luck! I'm right there with you because I've fallen behind too on novel two.

  6. @Sarah I think I'm good on the turkey bit. ;D Do they do Thanksgiving in England or is it a strictly American holiday?

@Cherie Thanks. I should be able to catch up today. I need just a little bit over 5k to get on track. How far behind are you?

  7. Just try not to burn yourself out in the process of doing that. The schools give a week off for a reason, and it's not to burn-out before the big, end of semester tests and exams! Good Luck and take some time for yourself doing it.

  8. Ah, but the thing is, I don't have to take any of those tests because of my grades and how little I've missed. ^^ It works out awesome.

  9. Ah, very cool! But I still think you should take a little bit of time for yourself and enjoy the holiday =)

  10. Well, right now I'm relaxing and making a map of a make-believe country for school. Does that count for something? XD
