Hiding

Silence

Door locked
Shades drawn

Alone

Sister still 'away'
Daddy who knows where
Mom picking up her pills

Scared

He is here
    in the shadows
        somewhere
            hiding

Makes me scared
    Of being alone
        In this silence

This one is kind of like my character-based poems, but it's not. It's based on (one of) the novels I'm planning to write for NaNoWriMo. It's currently called Shadowman (that could always change, but I like it). The main character's name is Kierra and her life story and the whos and hows and whys have been drifting around in my brain lately (along with things for THE SWITCHERS, THE LAST TEAM, and HEIRS TO ESIO). I'm kind of excited to start writing it even though I have no solid plot events yet. I have no time for it till November however, and that will get here soon enough.

Question: What do you think of the idea? Can you tell what it is from the poem?

  1. It's like Metallica's Sandman, I love it. (Only the Shadowman probably pwns the Sandman.) :D I can tell what it's about - how she's home alone and suddenly becomes paranoid of some freaky monster. If I have another dream about weird shadows killing me with Lysol, it's all your fault.

  2. Except for she's not just paranoid about it, he's really there. XD I apologize ahead of time for any Lysol induced dreams.

  3. I know what it *could* be about. A so-called murderer? =D Am I right? By the way, the poem and the name Shadowman sounds so pwnage.

  4. Stephen King wrote the Dark Tower based from a poem written by Browning (I think). Anyway...stories based on poems can be great. I wish you much luck with this.

  5. Don't know for sure but if it was on a blurb I would read further to find out what it was about - sounds creepy and scary - have fun with it

  6. Thanks to everyone.

The only Stephen King book I've read is Under the Dome, I really need to check out more of them. I enjoyed his writing.
