So how did it go, Brooke?
Hmmm? Oh, you're talking to me? Could you repeat the question? How did what go? Camp NaNoWrimo? Umm... yeah... about that... You all remember my goal, right? To finish my rewrite? That didn't happen. I let myself get distracted (I blame it on school) and I got very little writing done. The month, however, was by far a waste.
When I started the month, I had 22,210 words. I now have 40,026 words. I wrote 17,021 words during August, almost doubling my word count. (I know the numbering is a little off. It's because I tweaked my chapter titles. Post about that subject coming soon.) I only have four and a half scenes left to write from which I'm hoping to gain around 5k. I would have more pretty stats for you (like my average word count per day) but they already wiped the stats from the Camp NaNoWriMo site.
I will continue on with my rewrite and aim to finish in the next two weeks. At the end of which, I will do a happy dance (which you might get to see).
What would you do a happy dance for?
Ah, happy dances. I do them quite often - whenever I finish a draft of a story, or when I get a story idea... Oh, when I get a new follower or comment on my blog too.
ReplyDeleteIts really gotten to the point where I happy dance every day, maybe even every hour?
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with finishing your rewrite!
I will do a happy dance when I finish my own rewrite - but as I've pretty much altered the plot beyond all recognition, it might be a while :-)
ReplyDeleteI think happy dances are an integral part of any writer's life and I think it is absolutely imperative that we all get to see a video of yours!
ReplyDeleteI did Camp NaNoWriMo too. My goal was to write a contemporary that was just for me. I did manage to "win" the month, but lost my plot halfway through. Now I have to go through the whole thing and replot.
ReplyDeleteBe proud, Brooke. I wrote 17K in August and I'm doing the happy dance--right after I finish this draft that I had hoped would be done by the end of August. So close. We seem to be on the same schedule. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteWell you do all those writing prompts too and then you blog and stuff so yeah...lots of distractions.
ReplyDelete@Izzy We should all happy dance everyday! That should be a blogfest. The happy dance blogfest. Ah, I could see it now...
ReplyDelete@Sarah I know what you mean (though mine is still slightly recognizable, like someone who gets their nose and lips done but not the rest of their face XD). And I'm already thinking of ideas for the edits!
@Angeline And you will! Coming soon to a YouTube Channel near you! I really do nee to work on my YouTube Channel...
@Alicia Contemporary, oooh. I hear that's the next big thing. My story has contemporary elements, but I can't seem to stay away from fantasy. :) I have some things I want to change with my plot too, but I'm going to finish this draft first.
@Angelina C. That is kind of scary. XD But it feels great to know that I'm not the only one doing exactly what I'm doing right now. ^^ You should do a happy dance video too! This will so catch on...
@Michael As much as I love my short stories, I don't know if I'll be able to do them again next year. I want to focus on my bigger projects and having those little extra things add some serious stress. 0-0
Well done! And best of luck on finishing in the next two weeks! :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You definitely got a lot done this month, and best of luck with the remaining scenes!
ReplyDelete@Cally Thanks. I gave myself a little more time than I actually thought I needed. Just in case.
ReplyDelete@Marlena I'm definitely going to need luck with them. Finding the right balance of happy and content, but not too happy and content to be unrealistic is definitely hard. -sigh-
That happy dance will be so much fun! :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Would you like to do it with me?
ReplyDeleteHi campaigner :-)
ReplyDeleteConsidering I did close to NO writing during August, your 17000+ words are looking very impressive from where I'm sitting!
xx Rachel
Happy dances are easy to do. See? "Tap, tap, tap and a one-two-three-four!"
ReplyDeleteHere's to your success!
@Rachel It still kind of feels like I didn't get much done, simply because I didn't get as much as I wanted to get done, done. I have to keep reminding myself that what I did was a lot.
ReplyDelete@Clee Then you'd love to show us one, right? :)
