Not-Red

crimson
scarlet
burgundy
whatever you call it
it's still
red

red clothes
red skin
red sidewalk
the only not-red thing,
her green nails I painted
yesterday

  1. What a picture I'm getting in my head of a sunburned child with red hair on parched land... with green nails. I wonder what you pictured.

  2. I like what you pictured better than what I pictured. It feels deeper.

My picture was simply just death, murder with a knife.

  4. Jealousy, that's interesting. Funny how I can see my own poem interpreted so many different ways.

  5. I just pictured colors. You know when you want to pick a color for font and they give you the red spectrum? That's what I imagined and then the green threw me off but stood out amongst all the red. Which makes me think of how bold the color red can be. Green isn't such a color but when it's stuck in with all the red, it becomes bold. Ooh, I really like that. Thanks for sharing.

  6. I love the poem. Very nice.

I filled out your tag questions and posted them on my blog today. Sorry I didn't get to it sooner. It was super fun. Thanks.

  7. Interesting poem, Brooke! I love how green just suddenly threw me off. I got the hint of murder. ^__^ I like what Tara said about jealousy, too.

  8. This reminds me of the red woman Melisandre in George R.R. Martin's books.
